What We Believe
We believe in the threefold doctrine and work of the Trinity being God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in God the Father as the one and only true God and as the creator of the universe.
(I Timothy 1:17, Genesis 1:1-2:3, Hebrews 11:3).
We believe in God the Son as Jesus Christ who was sent by the Father, conceived by the Holy
Spirit and born of a virgin to become fully human yet fully divine. Ultimately becoming our
perfect sacrifice for sin by his death on the cross. We believe in His resurrection and His
ascension to the Father. (John 1:1-4, Matthew 1:18-25, Romans 3:21-26, Philippians 2:2-5.)
We believe in God the Holy Spirit as a gift to the believers for conviction, power, guidance,
comfort and assurance. The Holy Spirit is manifested through fruit in the believer's life and
through the ministry of spiritual gifts. (John 16:7-11, Galatians 5: 16-25, I Corinthians 12:7-11.)
We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God and final authority for faith and practice. (II Timothy 3: 16-17.)
We believe in salvation as a free gift from God, a work of grace based on Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and available to all people who accept this free gift by faith to become children of God. (Romans 6:23, Romans 10: 9,10.)
Where Do We Fit in the Realm of Mennonites
Mennonites have become very diverse since our origins in 16th century Europe. Today you can find a wide range of Mennonites from very conservative groups defined by their dress and nonconformity to modern society to liberal groups embracing postmodern ideologies.
We at CMC continue to embrace the conservative fundamental theologies of our Mennonite faith without the heavy mantle of rules and dress codes often associated with conservative Mennonite groups. We no longer could be defined by our dress or simple lifestyles.
CMC is a congregation associated with the Rosedale Network of Churches, a Christian denomination that follows an Anabaptist perspective of faith. This is an evangelical Anabaptist perspective that compels us to follow the teachings of Jesus by being peacemakers and to spread the gospel of Christ through loving and serving others.
